Types of Anodizing

We offer three primary anodizing methods, each engineered for specific performance characteristics and applications.

Natural / Clear

Natural Anodizing

Thickness: 5 – 25 microns

Preserves the natural metallic appearance of aluminum with a transparent protective oxide layer. The clear finish highlights the metal's inherent luster while providing effective corrosion and abrasion resistance.

Applications: Architectural facades, decorative trim, consumer electronics housings, and premium interior fittings where the beauty of raw aluminum is desired.

Color Anodizing

Electrolytic & Dye Coloring

Method: Electrolytic coloring or organic dye absorption

Offers a wide range of colors — from bronze, champagne, and black to custom shades achieved through electrolytic deposition or dye immersion. Color is absorbed into the porous oxide layer, ensuring consistent color across batches and long-term fade resistance.

Applications: Building curtain walls, storefronts, signage, window frames, and any project requiring a specific color identity with metallic depth.

Hard Anodizing

Type III Hard Coat

Thickness: 25 – 100 microns

Hardness: Up to 70 HRC equivalent

Produces an extremely hard, dense oxide layer with exceptional wear and abrasion resistance. Hard anodizing is performed at lower temperatures and higher current densities to create a coating suited for the most demanding industrial and mechanical environments.

Applications: Hydraulic cylinders, pistons, valve bodies, machine tool components, and military/defense equipment.
